The 1st Global Bioeconomy Summit (GBS) was held in Berlin on 25-26 November 2015, organized by the German Bioeconomy Council. More than 850 participants from 82 countries met with the objective to set goals for increasing the involvement of the bioeconomy in sustainable development and the battle against climate change. The final communiqué of the Global Bioeconomy Summit sets out five priorities for the global political agenda: 1) to use renewable resources, ensure food security and protect the ecosystem, 2) the bioeconomy's contributions towards the Sustainable Development Goals should be rendered measurable, 3) economic and scientific collaboration should be promoted, 4) education, joint learning and dialogue should be increased, and 5) the bioeconomy as a whole should be part of the global climate negotiations, the Sustainable Development Goals and trade. • Global Bioeconomy Summit 2015 |
